Great Research Tips by Shabnam M.

Are you stuck on a reseach project? Use these tips to help.

TIP 1: Use the books
Books are all around you! Ask your librarian to help you find a book on your topic. Look at the table of contents and the index to find the information you are looking for.

TIP 2: Use the World Wide Web
You are on the Internet right now. Why don't you use it? Use search engines such as Google or Yahoo to help you find your topic. On the internet, there are loads of information, but some can be fake. Look for websites with .edu or .gov at the end of the web address to find correct information.

TIP 3: Watch videos and TV shows
We're not talking about all-day useless shows. Channels like PBS or the Discovery Channel may have shows about you topic. There are also movies you can rent from the library that you can watch.

TIP 4: Take notes
Take notes constantly. Make them short. They do not have to be complete sentences. Just write down enough information for you to understand when you go over your notes again.

Use these 4 tips and get researching!

Story: The Shoes by Shabnam M.

Once there was a pair of shoes. The shoes complained because they saw nothing but dirt, dust, and the ground. They wanted to see more.

Their owner, Amina, heard their complaints. So she took them to the cobbler (a person who makes shoes and such).

The cobbler asked the shoes what they wanted to be. "A hat! A hat!" they cried.

The cobbler hammered and sewed and added pieces and took out pieces. Finally, the shoes had become a hat.

One day Amina went on a boat ride. The day was very windy. She decided to wear her hat.

While the boat was going, the hat enjoyed the view. But a sudden burst of wind took the hat of Amina's head and into the air.

The hat dropped down until it splashed into the water. As the hat was sinking, it thought, If I were still a pair of shoes, I would still be on the boat!
